Minecraft, A Guide To Redstone Part 1

A Guide To Redstone (Minecraft) 1

Welcome to redstone!

A redstone signal travels 14 blocks, redstone signals can trigger events like a door opening.

From left to right (Redstone torch, lever, wooden pressure plate, stone pressure plate, redstone block, wooden button and stone button.

A redstone repeater can make a signal go another 14 blocks. The redstone repeater can also cause a delay in the signal.

Redstone can activate a range of blocks. This can cause them to light up, move other blocks, open, make a noise or even do other things. I havent covered some of the more complex blocks but i will later. When a redstone lamp is powered it lights up. Redstone lamps can be used to turn off spawners.

Note blocks when powered make a short noise. Note blocks can be used to make door bells.

Dispensers when powered shoot arrows. They can also drop TNT, shoot potions or fire-charges, place a bucket of water or lava or use bone-meal.

Both pistons and stick pistons (Left to right) can push a block away.

Sticky pistons when unpowered retract the block unlike regular pistons

Trapdoors can be opened by redstone signals.

Droppers when powered drop an item. Droppers can be used to give players items.

Both wooden and iron doors can be opened by redstone signals. Using redstone you can make automatic doors.

TNT can also be activated by redstone signals and well you can probably guess.... it explodes.

Signing off for now.
