Minecraft, Minecarts And Rails

Minecraft, Minecarts And Rails

This tutorial teaches you all about the different types mine-carts and rails.

This is the standard mine-cart you can sit in it by right clicking it. To get out you press left shift (Note: this is the same for all vehicles Horses, Pigs and Boats)
This is the standard rail to move on it whilst in a mine-cart you must hold the Forwards key (Normally W).

(Me in a minecart)

The booster track is great it moves the mine-cart automatically and it also moves it faster than if your holding forward. However you need gold and redstone to make this and you also need to give them a redstone signal.

(Mine-cart with TNT) This is a cart which will explode when it falls 20 blocks or if it goes over a powered activator rail it will prime and explode about 2 seconds later.

(Powered activator rail.)

Primed mine-cart with TNT about to explode.

(The aftermath of the mine-cart with TNT)

You may think that TNT carts are bad as they may blow up their tracks but the tracks are actually explosion proof.
Tracks were made explosion proof in version 1.5.1 and its snapshots for two reasons.
1. Creepers would often explode tracks and they are hard to replace.
2. In 1.5.1 the mine-cart with TNT was added and otherwise it would destroy its own tracks.

(Detector rail)
When there is a mine-cart on top of a detector rail it will give off a redstone signal. The redstone signal can activate changes in the tracks.

(Chest mine-cart)

The chest mine-cart can store as much as a regular chest and then transport it away.

Mine-cart with furnace. This mine-cart travels all by itself even with out powered rails.

Just right click the cart with a piece of coal or charcoal and it will travel.

Here is a chest full of cobble.

(Hopper mine-cart)
The hopper mine-cart will take things out of tile entity's above (Chests, Droppers, Hoppers, Dispensers ect)

Minecraft roller coaster i adapted to put an extra mine-cart on the track every 0.7 seconds.

430 mine-carts... Bare in mind mine-carts are entities just like zombies and they will cause lag in excessive amounts.
